Daredevil

SO initially I was thinking of adding an asian influence to Daredevils design. Instead of Daredevil this would be more like, um, wreck-less-Oni. Doesn't roll off the tongue as well. I replace DD's normal weapons with two tetsubos tied with a length of rope. Aside from just making a really elaborate mask there was no where to go on this design for me.







Okay! So, admittedly I started off a little politically incorrect on this one. I originally planned on coloring his clothing in clashing, miss-matching colors and patterns, and replacing his normal batons with non sequitur items like, a cheese grater tied to a stool with a jump rope. Thinking about it, these ideas seemed a little insensitive to run with, but I did like the idea of Matt Murdock having a scrappy seeing eye dog. This would lend him such devastating moves as, " SEEING EYE DOG PUNCH!" or, "SEEING EYE DOG LIVING SHIELD". crap, insensitive again. I decided to go with plain clothes design because everyone knows Matt Murdock is Daredevil now anyway, regardless of Danny Rand's attempts to fool the public. So, if Matt is a lawyer and the crime fighter daredevil, why not stream line things and have a battle-business suite, appropriately colored, with reasonable everyday items used as weapons.

Cap'n 'Merica

I was working on a Captain America redesign and thought I would go with a less ideal Captain America. Rock Flag and Eagle! I wanted something between super mullet and "wrastlin" face paint. Also, I wanted to alter the ever present shield. I decided To design one that could be used in two halves or put together to make the whole, not to mention their compatibility with batons!

Commission

Here is a commission I just did for my Friends Matt and Marcela. It's based off of a Columbian folk song that Marcela's mother sang to her as a small child.

roughly, the song says,

Once upon a time there was an iguana wearing a wool poncho, brushing her hair next to the Rio Magdalena.
And the iguana drank coffee at tea time.
A disheveled man who had just woke up arrived in pajamas walking and yawning and pushed the iguana into the river.

one has no shadow underneath, one is the same but has a shadow underneath the gator.
one version has red in the background. one version the line art is green, and one version is just flipped.

Class fistacuffs

I'm teaching a computer cartooning class at MCA and at the end of the class our class holds a miniature fist-a-cuffs tournament like Sam Hiti's website. Last session I created the powerhouse King Quad.




This time around I’ve created something a bit nastier. Its name is Alice. I thought of this baby-powered demon after reading Green Lantern: Tales of the Sinestro Corp. The Sinestro minion Kryb keeps babies in his back. But as far as I know doesn't convert them into energy, or poisons.

I'm trying to decide which version I like better.

Superman re-design.

SO project rooftop is doing a Superman costume re-design in honor of his 80th birthday. He was created in June of 1938 in Kansas I believe. So my idea was to have a depression era Superman. Ma Kent just sewed a haggard S onto his overalls, he pulls his cap down low, and saves the day. My other idea was making his costume just a speedo, because in theory the more skin he has exposed to the sun the stronger he'll be.
